2 years in the books!

Happy two year anniversary to my amazing Husband!! 

Two years and a couple days ago my fiancé and I were under the gun.  We had set a date for October 13, 2012 to get married but found out that the CG had other ideas.  After a few phone calls to our parents, a few tears and a promise of two anniversaries, we found ourselves in one of our friends kitchens devising a major plan.  If we were going to get married six months early, it was going to be epic.  We started out by telling one of our best couple friends (one, who just happened to be a pilot) what we wanted to do, knowing that if we couldn't get him to fly us anywhere we weren't going to do it.  Of course, being the amazing man that he is, there weren't any problems and he even roped in a fellow pilot to make our first big day a success.  The plan had legs.  We had our ride.  Where, you ask?  To a tiny island... Hook Point, Alaska to be exact!  In *almost* 6 months to the day, I was going to be wed on the beaches of Oahu, HI and if I was getting married early, it was still going to be on a beach- Alaskan style!

Next, naturally we needed someone to marry us.  We headed over to our neighbors house, who just happened to be the best man of the HI wedding, to see if he wanted to play priest for a day.  **Side note, first friend lived across the street and second friend lived across the hall haha!  We keep our friends close!**  So with a smile and a hug, we had an officiant.  Conveniently, his wife offered to take pictures of our big day as well.  Score and Score!  We were lucky people!  This plan was turning out quite nicely. 

Now, for someone to walk me down the isle.  Enter my favorite Ginger friend!!  Who better than one of my bridesmaids to act as Father of the Bride for a day?  With another hug and a few Ginger tears we were set!

A couple days later we all dawned our cold weather rain gear, hopped into a tiny plane and headed out to get hitched.  What did you expect, it was still Alaska in April?!  We landed on a perfectly manicured beach thanks to Mother Nature, and under the trellis of our winged chariots, we became husband and wife.  Of course there are more cute and sappy details, but those are just for the glorious few that were involved in this shindig.  :)

Happy *official* two years to you, Babe!  May there be many, many more in our future!

Tuesday, September 10: Describe a distinct moment when your life took a turn.

I'm fighting the urge to be completely sarcastic and say that this morning I took many turns on the way to work and calling it good.  Maybe the rain is making me fiesty?  I digress...

There are so many times when my life has taken a turn for the better and worse.  Turns to me are more of the choices that lead my day to day life.  I think that the big man upstairs throws a lot of turns at me for various reasons and lessons and I keep trying to steer the ship, though clearly He thinks this is hilarious.  

The latest significant turn in my life, was my marriage.  I've posted about marriage before and all of the things I have learned and continue to learn.  The biggest thing I have learned that made my life turn was that it's not all about me and if I want this marriage to grow and thrive, I've got to always put US first.  Instead of another lengthy post, I'd like to share some of our amazing wedding photos!

1.  Favorite vacation spot?
Of all the places I've been travelling through Europe, The US and Mexico, I have to say that Hawaii has been my favorite place so far.  Give me an ocean, awesome climate and lucious landscape and I'm yours!

Baby Got Back.  I know every word will rap it to you with the biggest, corniest grin ever!

3.  What is your guilty pleasure?
TV!  When the boob tube comes on, my brain turns off and I finally relax....

4.  What is the one thing that will guarantee your smile?
Besides Baby Got Back?  Seriously sweet texts from my Husband!  Love your face!

5.  Favorite drink?
Water or Gin & Juice- extra lime.


6.  Describe your 'fantasy lifestyle'...
My fantasy lifestyle would include never having to worry about money (dolla dolla bills y'all), traveling all over the world for pleasure & philanthropy and photographing/writing/cooking/creating for a living.

7.  What is the one food you couldn't eat if you were starving to death?
Pickled Pig's Feet- I've never tried them but they make my stomach turn just thinking about them!!

8.  Favorite animal and why?
I have too many to just pick one: Starfish, Manatees, Pandas and Pugs (Kaiya hold my heart!)

9.  Why did you start a blog?
I orgionally wanted to start a blog when I found out I was moving to Alaska.  It was such a different world and I wanted my friends/family back home to see what I was going through!  Fast forward to last April when I actually got off my procrastinating butt and started it... it was still to document my fun/changes/experiences and for a creative outlet.  I have a need to create and be heard!  It warms my heart each time I see a comment or someone tells me how much they love my blog.

10.  If you could visit one place you've never been, where would you go?
I can't wait to go to Austrailia, Africa and Asia.  I can't pick just one!  It will happen!!

11.  What's your favorite season and why?
FALL!!!  I love everything about this time of year!  When the leaves change colors, Starbucks pumpkin lattes are released and scarves can be seen on every man, woman and child my heart skips a beat!  Swoon!




11 Random Facts:

•  I only eat half folded chips.  Ok, in desperate situations I will cave- but I don't want to!
• If I hear something go bump in the night, I put on my big girls pants, trash talk and yell at it until I feel comfortable that the ghost, vampire, werewolf or real intruder thinks I'm just cray cray enough to fight back.
• If you compliment my outfit I will imediately tell you where I got it and how much it was- word. vomit. #ican'thelpmyself
• I loathe kitchy looking things.  No special S&P shaker collection here, nope.
• I was an exchange student in Belgium after HS for a year.  Vive la Belgique!
• I have no will power when it comes to food/drink.  No really, it's a problem.
• I can pick things up with my toes.  Yum!
• I lived in 3 countries in 4 years.  Bonjour, Hey, Hola!
• Dance parties with myself are my favorite thing.  Oh, I put on concerts too.  You're welcome.
