Please hold...

Did I mention this was my first PCS move with the Coast Guard?  No?  Well, it is!  There will be lots of little bloggy posts all about my adventures in moving but they will have to wait, as I have committed cardinal sin #1 to bloggers who are moving.  I accidentally let them pack up my laptop... Wah, wah, waaahhhh... I know.  Rookie mistake.

So, if you wouldn't mind holding for- oh, I don't know- until I get my stuff back and my laptop had been released from it's cardboard prison, I sure would appreciate it!  Please enjoy this silent music while you wait!

Until next time!

Frank Friday: Alaska doesn't count?

Happy Frank Friday!

So there's this common misconception that Texas is the largest state in the US.  Well, that may be true for everything under our Canadian neighbors but if you go above the Mason-Dixon Line you'll be reminded who the real giant is, Alaska.  Now Alaska is pretty quiet up here and doesn't get too offended anytime someone forgets, they normally just kindly remind the poor soul that Alaska is actually twice the size of Texas and would cover most of the US if placed on top.  Here's an illustration if you're a visual person!

Oh, snap.  When they say reach out and touch someone they were talkin' about us!  You're welcome

This little misconception was brought to my attention by a friend of a Facebook friend- not my aunt's brother's cousin's first wife, I swear.  I saw this pic and just had to say something.  You know, it's all fun and games until someone uses you as the whopper of a joke in a national marketing campaign.  #punintended

Not cool Burger King, not cool.

Not naming source for privacy- from Facebook!

You think Alaska doesn't count?  Let me ask ya this... Do you like "Alaskan" King crab?  You can thank Alaska for that!  What about Copper River Salmon, heck almost any good salmon, yep- Alaska again.  What about some of the best heli-skiing in the world? Yep- that's us!  Purple mountains majesty?!  OMG, Alaska for the win!  And on, and on, and on....

My point, or rant, is simply that while I may be a transplant of this State and laugh about the weather, my Alaskan Native husband and I call it home.  I'm all for jokes until somebody counts us out or makes fun of this glorious land. You think there aren't that many people up here in Alaska? Just wait until you piss one off *coughs...Exxon* and then you'll see just how many there are!

Happy Frank Friday!  Now go out there, tell Burger King what you think and definitely be frank!!

Until next time...

Holla!

Buenos días blogland!

I swear I'm alive, I've just been enjoying my coastie since he got home from his last jaunt in the big blue.  Some quick updates for you and a fabulous drink recipe!

1.  We applied for a job in a far away land- eek, so excited!  San Fran is still a sure thing if we don't get this opportunity but if we do, it would be amazing!

2.  I've been taking more time for fitness lately and loving it!  Miles of walking are now a nightly routine I'm our household and I've rekindled my relationship with the pool.  We're both very happy about that!

3.  Still working at the hardware store and only feeling like an idiot, oh, 60% of the time!  Baby steps!  However, I'm a boss at customer service and the front end!

4.  Two months and 5 days until we leave CDV.  While the countdown is on, I'm starting to feel quite sad about it.  The thought of movies, more than 4 restaurants, shopping and the beach is helping.

5.  I still got it when it comes to Mario and mixing drinks!  #Winning!

Now- here's the drink recipe I promised!

Lemon Ginger Vodka Fizz

Ice in the glass

Vodka- not judging on your amount

Grate fresh ginger and add to taste (about 1/2 a teaspoon)

One half of a lemon slice squeezed in the glass and juice along the rim.  Don't forget to twist the lemon rind for an aromatic bonus!

1-2 drops stevia sweetener

Fill with soda water, stir and enjoy!

It looks a little something like this!

Nice and refreshing!  Until next time!
