Frank Fridays: #lifehacks

Happy Freaking Friday!!!  Today is a great day for many reasons but the most important three are:

  • It's Friday!
  • Thanks to the legging trend I wear yoga pants to work!
  • Today is the last day at my current job!

Can I just tell you how excited and free I feel?

I've been pretty good about not talking about my current job on here, or to anyone except close friends/my hubby and I'll keep it that way.  Let's just say that no one quits a job because they love it?  Am I right?  Today I feel the weight of the world lifting off of my shoulders.  I feel my creative juices returning to normal levels.  I feel my soul remembering that it exists!  Yeay, me!

I don't think I told you yet that I did get another job!  I actually got it the day before I turned in my resignation!  In a tiny tiny town, word travels fast and opportunities usually fall into your lap even before you know you need them! #closingdoormeetopenwindow   I'm happy to report that I'll be working at the hardware store in town.  Yes, you read that right... I will be working at a hardware store.  hahaha- stop laughing.  Unless you're minion laughing because those little twinkies with eyes sing my heart song!

This is not the hardware store, this is just too adorable for words.  #you'rewelcome
The owners of the store are amazing people, who just happen to be friends with my in-laws.  I married up, folks!  I'm so excited to be able to work with people in a more relaxed setting, have easy work that doesn't make me stay until all hours of the night and it comes with a pretty rad view!  While I'm not going to be a hardware connoisseur, I'm going to check you out like a champ (minds out of the gutter people) and point you to an owner for the hard questions!   I've already learned what a carriage bolt is and the different between brite, stainless steal and galvanized.  Booyah, owned you.  This is going to be fun, check out my new view!

So yesterday I tweeted this:

I know I might be late to the party on this one, shocker, but I am seriously excited about this life hack!  Yoga pants to work... sign me up!  With the whole leggings trend, yoga pants have become an acceptable form of work pant and I couldn't be happier!  I really hope that's not just in Cordova.

Think about this, leggings look great on almost anyone... well, I take that back, I've seen the funny "as seen in Wal*Mart" sites and if you could run a mile being chased by zombies, you can probably pull off yoga pants.  I'm pretty sure they were sent from God in a vision to the fashion designers to compensate for all of the trends that only look good seriously skinny people with no boobs!  #ihaveboobspeople!  But seriously, boxy and flowy shirts are a great idea until they just hang off of your lady shelves making you look like you're wearing a box.  Not attractive.  And can we talk about half shirts coming back- wait, let's not and pretend that's not happening.  Yoga pants, on the other hand, hug your J.Lo making you feel like you're wearing a sexy cat woman suit.  Anyone?  No...?  Just me... ok, whatevs!
Attention Walmart shoppers...lol!

Either way you look at it, today is a good day.  Happy Frank Friday y'all!!  Now go out there and be frank!

Until next time...

To Infinity and Beyond-Stitch Fix

I think I've mentioned before that I live in a rural Alaskan town- right.  I also mentioned there is no where to shop- right?  Well... after seeing Stitch Fix on a couple blogs I decided to give it a try!  My first fix was in December and most recent in April.

If I didn't before... I now believe in love at first sight!

I was super skeptical about this program because I am *ahem* voluptuous but I have to say that it's been working out quite nicely so far.  I'll admit there are a few things that I was like- um, no.  But all in all fit wise it's been pretty great.  Right now the sizes are from 0-14 and with me teetering on the edge some of the trends just don't work well for me but others have been amazing!

Shameless selfie in my new threads!!

How does it work?!  Well, you go to the link below and fill out a style quiz.  From that you put down $20 which always goes to whatever you buy and also guarantees you a kick butt stylist working hard to find you cute fashion!  You set up your first "fix" and wait anxiously like a kid on Christmas.  When the box arrives you get to see your 5 items, try them on and then send back whatever didn't work for you in the bag provided with free shipping!  I swear it's that easy...  It's like having a little elf magically place style at my doorstep.  Thank you baby Jesus!

December was a complete hit!  There were two items that I sent back and I kept 3...sorry honey!  One item I sent back was a puffy vest, no thank you, and the others were adorable skinny jeans that didn't go with my J-Lo.  January was a little less of a hit in someways because I only kept one item, but can I tell you how AH-MAZING the shirt I kept was?!  Seriously, it's a gorgeous shade of emerald green that I don't think I would have picked out for myself but when I tried it on, I felt so pretty.  Feb and March had equally awesome boxes with at least one item kept and all with things I wouldn't have picked out!  That's the point right?  Stitch Fix sends me things I might not pick out for myself but I try everything on and have been pleasantly surprised every time.

Oh, did I mention they send you a little card on how to style each item a couple different ways?!  Yeah, that happened.  So for all you styling impaired, have no fear... Stitch Fix is here!!!  Also- they send you cute little notes!  One note told me one of the dresses would be cute for a date night with the HUBBY.... I'm pretty sure they read my diary.

There's my schpele and nope, this isn't sponsored at ALL.  I'm too little of a blog, but I really liked this product and thought you might too.  So try the link below and give it a whirl!!!  Either way, I'll still be looking fab in my fixes!

My code!  Check it out!  It's NOTHING to sign up, $20 styling fee when they send out your box that ultimately goes towards anything you buy!

Until next time...

Garlic Kale Chips are the bomb.com

Healthy, easy, crunchy and garlicy?  Sign me up!  These kale chips are so easy anyone could do it!

1.  Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees.

2.  Wash, layout to dry and then pat the kale dry, just to be sure!  Remove the bitter, middle stem and cut or tear into 2in (ish) pieces... I just ripped away into bite size pieces.  Don't make them too small or they'll burn and taste seriously gross!

3.  Mince garlic, about 4 cloves because garlic is a food group in my world.  Drizzle EVOO over the kale and massage in.  Sprinkle with garlic and kosher salt.

4.  Bake @ 300 for about 11min.  Mine took a little longer because I had two trays in- just taste test!  Sprinkle with salt if you forgot the first time...

Eh, voila!  Kale chips... YUM!!

Store in Ziploc or other container... if they last that long!  :)
Until next time...
